Receiver-Initiated Collision Avoidance in Multi-Hop Ad Hoc Networks
نویسنده
چکیده
Previous analysis of collision avoidance in ad hoc networks with hidden terminals has focused on senderinitiated schemes, like the IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function. This paper presents analytical modeling of receiver-initiated collision avoidance schemes in multi-hop ad hoc networks. Our analysis shows that receiver-initiated schemes can offer substantial improvements over senderinitiated techniques, provided that nodes have a good estimate of the traffic offered by their neighbors.

متن کاملThroughput Analysis of Receiver Initiated Collision Avoidance in Multi hop Wireless Networks
This paper presents an analytical model based upon discrete time Markov chain analysis of receiver-initiated protocols for multi hop Ad hoc networks. Three-way receiver initiated (RTR-DATA-ACK) scheme for collision avoidance in Ad hoc networks has many protocols with it. In the proposed model, the nodes are randomly distributed according to a twodimension Poisson distribution with density λ. Fo...
متن کاملCollision Avoidance in Multi-Hop Ad Hoc Networks
Collision avoidance is very important in contentionbased medium access control protocols for multi-hop ad hoc networks due to the adverse effects of hidden terminals. Four-way sender-initiated schemes are the most popular collision-avoidance schemes to date. Although there has been considerable work on the performance evaluation of these schemes, most analytical work is confined to singlehop ad...
متن کاملA New Hybrid Channel Access Scheme for Ad Hoc Networks
Many contention-based channel access schemes have been proposed for multi-hop ad hoc networks in the recent past and they can be divided into two categories, sender-initiated and received-initiated, according to the collision avoidance handshake in use. Sender-initiated scheme is adopted in the IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol, which is by far the most popular and studied protocol. However, the IEEE 80...

(2011), doi:10.1016/j.ad Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) has been adopted by the IEEE 802.11 standard and provides good performance when all transmitters are within the range of each other. Unfortunately, in multi-hop topologies, the asymmetric view of the channel state leads to a throughput d...
